Castles and the Bloomsbury Group

I decided to update some of my Alamy stock photographs yesterday so started in Lewes and got some general long views of the Norman castle with the South Downs, including Mount Caburn, in the background.The juxtaposition of the old castle and modern (ish) housing works quite well:

I also grabbed a few images of the murals in Berwick Church, famously painted by the Bloomsbury group artists Duncan Grant, Vanessa and Quentin Bell. The backgrounds are all local settings and the models were the artists' family and friends, as well as local residents, including an amputee farmer as Joseph and possibly Virginia Woolf's son, Julian, as Jesus:
